Tapestry Weaving

Tapestry weaving is also known as weft-faced weaving, in which all the warp threads are usually hidden in the completed work, it is traditionally woven by hand on a tapestry frame loom. The woven tapestry fabric made is often designed with ornamental or pictorial subjects, woven in colours and used for wall hangings, bags, cushions, seat covers, etc.

Tapestry Weaving Workshops

Using this textile craft of tapestry weave your own sampler, wall hanging, small purse or bag. In this workshop we will cover the essential skills of tapestry weaving including, how to design your own project, warp up and weave using a tapestry frame/loom, tapestry stitches and techniques. You will have the opportunity to experiment with a variety of colours, yarns, textures and materials.
This workshop aims to teach you the basics of tapestry weaving for you to acquire enough skills and confidence to continue weaving at home.
All materials and equipment are provided. If you have a tapestry frame/loom and yarn that you would like to use, you are welcome to bring them to add to your tapestry.
This workshop is suitable for beginners.
